Districts

What Are Districts?

Every year Northampton Baseball competes in the Little League World Series, beginning with the District 30 Tournament. If you're wondering what it's all about, this post should provide some clarity.

Who is Eligible to Play?

All Star Teams are formed from the current Northampton Baseball in-house player pool, which is separate from the Travel Baseball teams. All in-house players are eligible. Each player will be evaluated fairly by current coaches and chosen for the appropriate team. Our goal is to maximize Northampton's chances of winning by selecting the most skilled kids for the teams.

Three teams are created, 12u, 11u & 10u. Children between the ages of 8-12 this season are eligible to be nominated and selected.

Players to be selected to tournament teams must have participated as an eligible player in eight (8) regular-season games by the beginning of the World Series Tournament, with the exception of the school based players. Players qualifying under the school exception, must participate in 60% of the games available to them.

To participate, you must also be willing to provide three proofs of residency or school enrollment, and one proof of age. You can find more details on the requirements here: https://www.littleleague.org/downloads/tournament-player-verification/

If your child has been selected for a team, you will be asked to submit the required documents.

Selection Rules

Overview

10 players are voted onto a team
2 or more players are chosen by the Head Coach at each Age Group
12 player minimum per team
NL and AL Little League (in-house) Coaches vote for 10-12 age group and 9-11 age group
AL and AAA Coaches vote for 8-10 age group
A Board Member (League Rep) that is not part of a coaching staff and does not have a player in the draft oversees and has the final say on resolving conflicts
- Multiple League Reps may be required to avoid conflicts of interest

Voting Procedure

NL Head Coach and One named Assistant per team gets a vote (4 votes total)
AL Head Coach Only - one vote (4 votes total)
AAA Head Coach Only - one vote (4 votes)
Each Coach nominates one player (8 players total)

First Round of Voting

No lower league players can be nominated in the first round unless majority of coaches agree
Coaches vote on 8 nominees - The top 3 vote getters are on the team

Second Round

Voting commences on the remaining 5 players - Top 3 are on the team

Third/Fourth Rounds

Additional nominations and voting until 10 players have been selected

Conclusion

The Head Coach may select 2 or more players from the remaining nominees until a minimum player count is 12
The District All-Stars will be announced to the parent community via email, league website, and social media upon validation of teams
